Communication
We are committed to making sure that all Carlynton residents, students, parents, teachers and community leaders know what is happening in their school district.
These groups of stakeholders can make valuable contributions to how we educate our children. We can only do this as a team, and we can only operate as a team if everyone is informed.
Our goal is to improve communication in the Carlynton School District by:
- Improving the district’s website to make it more fluid and accessible to parents and students looking for information.
- Posting all relevant, up-to-date, public information on the district website. We have seen other school district websites that include links to test scores, strategic plans, current budgets and district policy documents. That kind of transparency strengthens relationships between the school district and the public.
- Videotaping entire school board meetings and posting them as soon as possible to the district website. Many interested residents cannot attend evening meetings because of work and family commitments, and only residents who subscribe to Comcast are able to watch portions of the board meetings on local television.
- Encouraging community participation at school board meetings. We pledge to listen with open minds to anyone who speaks out at a public meeting. Many residents have found only frustration in their attempts to share helpful information or address problems with the board. School board members are elected to serve the community.
